“Food shouldn’t be bad for you and healthy food shouldn’t taste bad,” or so says the motto of the new restaurant in town, The Green Room. The Green Room opened last spring, and  serves a healthy, local cuisine.
Along with the long list of organic juices and teas to choose from, carnivore and vegetarian can coexist here with a wide selection of dining options. From the truly phenomenal Seared Diver Scallop Salad with an  orange bee pollen vinaigrette, to the Savory Crepes, or local grass-fed burger, the Green Room offers an array of options that are sure to leave you feeling gastronomically satisfied.

While the average dish price is high for the college walet, the quality of the food is worth it. The menu also includes budgetable dishes like the burgers, soups, and salads.

Our diners were all taken with their meals, the butternut squash bisque and chili were a hit, but so were the Portobello fries, crepes, and scallop salad. For dessert, we enjoyed a delectable dish of spiced crepes filled with sweet mascarpone served with a side of homemade vanilla bean ice cream. It was close to a divine dessert experience, something that cannot be said of many Carlisle meals. The list of desserts was extensive (and so tempting) with other notable mentions being the Death by Chocolate Cheesecake or the Cappuccino Chip Ice Cream.

All food is made in house. This is the kind of meal that you can feel good about ingesting. All sandwiches are served on whole grain ciabatta bread, and the salads and other dishes are so flavorful, you can hardly believe that what you are eating is not only great for your palate, but also your health. Certain dishes can even be prepared gluten-free or vegan upon request.

While The Green Room is closed on Mondays and Sundays, so are most local restaurants. The Green Room serves lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday, with a special brunch menu featured on Saturdays.

This brunch could include dishes such as French toast prepared with their own homemade challah bread, or a portion of Steak and Eggs served with sweet potato hash.

Whether you choose them for lunch, brunch, or dinner, this restaurant is a delight. Our diners were thoroughly impressed by the high quality cuisine offered at this swanky, new restaurant, and it wasn’t just the cool, cosmopolitan vibe of the recycled wine glass cups or the funky art hung on the walls that took our fancy. The overall dining experience far surpasses anything our Phantom Diners have yet encountered in their dining adventures about Carlisle. The Green Room has laid down the gauntlet, challenging other restaurants in Carlisle to match their superior quality. We shall see who, if anyone, can rise to meet the occasion.
